Veteran of Merit

Veterans

QLCA has been running a Veteran Stream for many years, Veterans are dogs that have turned the grand old age of 7. Of course, this by no means is old for some dogs and this being the case, it is at the discretion of the owner, whether they move their dog to the Veteran Stream. Some dogs are more than capable of running a full course in the title streams at 9 years of age, if depends on the dog, its breed, it’s level of fitness and it’s health.

Once you have made the decision to go into Veterans, you cannot change your mind and go back into the main stream. If you are not sure if you are ready for this, please have a chat to any of our Judges, they have many years of experience watching our dogs and will be able to advise you and help make this choice, sometimes they will even approach you and suggest it. But as always it is up to you what to do.

Dogs running in the veteran, generally run a half run. This is to protect them, they have no idea that they are old……

This does not effect the judges scoring at all. The judge knows they are scoring a veteran dog and score accordingly.

For many years, there was no title in veterans, but that makes it boring for the owners, so in 2017 the club introduced the new title – Veteran of Merit.
